Reorganize

There will be people who leave the company, whether or not they are forced to. You would expect the people who continue to work in the organization to contribute to success and keep on working with the same enthusiasm and stay motivated. It is often thought that this group, who are not victims, continues to work enthusiastically and motivated. Unfortunately this is not true. It appears that the impact of reorganizations on this group of people is so great that their trust and commitment decreases drastically.

This group of people appears to have feelings of guilt, injustice, anger and job insecurity. This has its effects on work behaviour, attitude, motivation and dedication. Retaining their job or position in the organization does not result in gratitude or peace of mind for this group of people, but the opposite, namely higher stress levels. The cause of this can be found in the infringement that the reorganization has on the psychological contract between employer and employee. This implicit contract provides employment in exchange for commitment and loyalty. The breach of this contract by reorganisations will undoubtedly have adverse effects on productivity. This effect of reorganisations is terribly underestimated.
