The child’s question is, “What will my world look like when I’m your age?” What would be your answer to that?

Cochin-Approach, together with the movement “Purpose economy.nl”, has the following answer.

Cochin-Approach strengthens human dignity in doing work. In this way, it contributes to a sustainable, livable life. “Doing human dignified work and getting results” are aspects of economic systems. Cochin approach makes the human in the meaningful economy concrete. Realizing that people feel comfortable in their own skin during their work. People whistling to work. People would like to contribute to that sustainable and livable life (and vice versa). That is humane. This is what Cochin-Approach means by “achieving humane results”.

Organizations naturally apply common (project) management approaches. In our work and in projects we apply it obediently without thinking. Cochin-approach does things differently.

Scientific theories are often the basis for (project) management approaches. Particularly from the industrial revolution, man equates science With the same level or an even higher level than the laws of nature. We believe in science and it’s theories, and nothing else. Science objectively and distantly describes reality. That is a serious distortion of reality and very naive. What happens, however, is that science not only describes reality, but also shapes it at the same time. The theory inevitably leads us to view the world through the lens that the theory presents to us. So not only does a theory describe how the world works, but also how we want the world to work.

The laws of nature have not shaken us awake by corona, sustainability, climate, etc. The laws of nature govern our lives, not something else. We humans with our science do not rule nature. Science and its theories are inferior to and derived from the laws of nature!

We do daily work. We prefer to do that ‘doing’ as much as possible with our own unique – biological – way of doing things. It’s ingrained in us even before we’re born. Little kids do that every day. In adults much less, however, there is also “their own way of doing things” in them. That is hidden by all that we have been taught. Now dig that out and start applying. As a result, people feel more comfortable and come to work whistling. That creates human dignity. This strengthens the capacity (= energy, capacity) present in every human being to better develop their own unique humanity and to work as human beings.

That is the core of Cochin approach. That is the contribution to the movement of “betekeniseconomie.nl. That is one of the principles of the purpose economy. I live by this. In this way realize that in the new normal life and work this will become the new normal.
